Cambridge International Education
As a Cambridge International School, Bombay Cambridge International School, prepares school students for life, helping them develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. The international qualifications are recognized by the world’s best universities and employers, giving students a wide range of options in their education and career.
The Cambridge learner attributes encourage students to become confident, responsible, reflective, innovative, and engaged – helping them to be ready for the world.
At our school, we fully embrace the Cambridge approach to teaching and learning, fostering an environment where students actively construct knowledge through inquiry, reflection, and real-world engagement. The teacher is more of a facilitator than an instructor. Learners learn by addressing and posing questions, analysing evidence, connecting such evidence to preexisting knowledge, drawing conclusions, and reflecting upon their findings. Hands-on, experiential learning is also encouraged to deepen understanding through direct experience and active engagement.
Cambridge Pathway
Our Cambridge Pathway is for students aged 5 to 19. Its wide range of subjects and flexibility gives schools the chance to shape the curriculum so that it is exciting and relevant for their own students.
Cambridge Pathway students have the chance to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at school, university and beyond.
The four stages lead seamlessly from primary to secondary and pre-university years. Each stage – Cambridge Primary, Cambridge Lower Secondary, Cambridge Upper Secondary and Cambridge Advanced – builds on the learners’ development from the previous one, but can also be offered separately.
Cambridge Primary [Grades 1 – 5]
Cambridge Primary starts learners on an exciting educational journey. Typically, for students aged 5 to 11, it provides a strong foundation at the beginning of their schooling before they progress through the Cambridge Pathway. It offers a carefully structured curriculum that supports children’s development through age-appropriate learning objectives. This ensures a smooth transition to the next stages of education.
Our school offers the Cambridge Curriculum for English, Mathematics, Science, Global Perspectives, Computing, Art & Design, Music, and PE. The Global Perspectives subject nurtures a broad outlook, enabling children to understand their own culture, community, and identity as well as those of others in different parts of the world. Students also learn Marathi, Hindi, and Social Studies. A specially designed Social Emotional Learning Curriculum (SELC) is implemented across Grades 1 to 5, with a weekly class scheduled on the timetable. This is to foster emotional intelligence, resilience, and positive social behavior in students.
The students go through the mandatory evaluations of the school.
At the end of the Primary stage, the students appear for the Primary Checkpoint exam in English, Math, Science, and Global Perspectives. Cambridge Checkpoint provides a strong foundation in key subjects, helping students identify strengths and areas for improvement through internationally benchmarked assessments.
Cambridge Lower Secondary [Grades 6 – 8]
Cambridge Lower Secondary is typically for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It provides excellent preparation for Cambridge Upper Secondary and other educational programs. The curriculum is flexible, challenging, and inspiring—designed to engage students with an international perspective while remaining culturally sensitive.
At our school, English, Mathematics, Science, Computing, French/Hindi, Global Perspectives, Physical Education, Music, and Art and Design are the subjects offered through the Cambridge curriculum, providing a well-rounded, inquiry-based education that nurtures both academic and creative growth. Students also study Marathi and Social Studies, helping them stay connected to their cultural and regional roots.
A specially designed Social Emotional Learning Curriculum (SELC) is implemented for students from Grades 6 to 8, with a dedicated weekly class included in the timetable. This needs-based program supports students’ emotional well-being and social development, contributing to a holistic learning experience and building a strong foundation for lifelong success.
Students also undergo the mandatory school-based evaluations to track academic progress and readiness.
Our school encourages participation in the Cambridge Checkpoint and Cambridge Insight Assessments at the end of the Lower Secondary stage in the following subjects: English, Maths, Science, and Global Perspectives. These assessments provide an international benchmark of student achievement, helping teachers identify individual strengths and areas for improvement. They also offer guidance on progression routes and enable personalized support, empowering students to reach their full potential.
Cambridge Upper Secondary / IGCSE [Grades 9-10]
Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international qualification for students aged 14 to 16. Globally recognized, it offers students a broad range of subject choices, flexible learning pathways, and multiple opportunities for success.
It provides a broad and balanced study across a wide range of subjects, using learner-centered and enquiry-based approaches to learning. At our school, we offer a variety of subjects through the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, including English as First Language, English as Second Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, Business, Economics, Geography, Global Perspectives, Hindi, French, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), and Environmental Management. Students are required to select subjects from the combinations provided.
In addition, Music and Physical Education (PE) are offered as co-curricular subjects. Our needs-based Social Emotional Learning Curriculum (SELC) helps students in classes 9 and 10 build confidence, handle challenges better, and develop a strong, positive mindset.
At the end of the course, the students appear for the Cambridge IGCSE examination (which is equivalent to the Class 10 board exams).
Cambridge IGCSE helps students strengthen skills in creative thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving, making it an ideal foundation for further academic studies.
Cambridge International AS and A Level
Cambridge Advanced is a two-year program comprising the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level in the first year and the Advanced (A)Level in the second. The Association of Indian Universities (AIU), along with the Ministry of Education (formerly HRD Ministry), recognizes Cambridge AS and A Level as equivalent to Grades XI and XII of the Indian national boards. As per this recognition, students from Cambridge and other international boards are eligible to apply to universities across India, alongside those from national and state boards.
In addition to developing in-depth subject knowledge, learners gain a global perspective and the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world. Cambridge International AS and A Level are widely accepted by top universities across India and globally — including institutions in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
AS and A Level are available in our BCIS Andheri East and DSRIS Malad branches
